On friday I got a stunning children's book called Kuinkas sitten kävikään? (The Book About Moomin, Mymble and Little My) for my upcoming 20th birthday. Yeah, quite childish. I know. But I never got it as a child and though I had read it through only once (as a kid), I was mesmerized by it.

That made me think about my childhood. Before I started going to school, I was in a daycare place near my home. At one point the only kids left there was me and these twin boys. We had such a blast and for a moment I was a proper tomboy. Now I'm going to sound like a pathetic sentimentalist, but I miss those times.

One time we were discovering some great 'treasures' at the daycare place's garage and somehow one of the twins cut his hand quite badly. Seeing the blood dripping on the garage's grey, concrete floor made me worried, but I wasn't scared. There was something exiting and thrilling about it. I can still see that moment vividly. That's when I saw blood for the first time.

Sh*t, I was only 3-5 years old! It happened a long time ago then.

I remember .. perhaps not the first tim I saw blood, but it was quite alot of it. My twin was kicked over and her tooth fell out. It may have only been a tooth but blood poured out her mouth, down her clothes, smothered on her face.. I was really shocked. I think that year she got kicked down again and a stone lodged itself in her forehead..
I suppose I wasnt scared, as *Nashimus suggested, perhaps we don't understand really what's going on at that age.
